What is the purpose of the OKX rocket ship gamerpic on the 360 hard disk? I can't select it to be the gamerpic for my profile. So what is it there for?

I have all the achievements.

If anyone knows...
Thanks.

Are you referring to the image displayed on the Arcade menu? If so, good point. I don't know why the 360 downloads those pictures if they can't be used as gamerpics.

Are you talking about the icon the system uses to identify OKX files? If so, it's not really a gamerpic. Any time you have any OKX assets at all (game, DLC, saved files, etc.) it needs to put them under the OKX group when you're looking at the hard drive, and it needs an icon to associate with that group.

If you're talking about something else, then I'm afraid I don't understand the question... :(

Yeah, I think he is referring to the OKX savefile icon.

Under the system blade, memory settings for the hard drive, there is a section there called gamerpics. There is an entry for Outpost Kaloki X and it has one picture, the rocket ship.

Why does it get placed under gamerpics, and not elsewhere perhaps with the rest of the data files for the game, if it is not actually a gamerpic?

It probably contains the 2 gamerpics you can use and just uses the "Outpost Kaloki data" image, which is the rocket ship.

Aha, that might make more sense. So you are suggesting that instead of a single picture, it might be a bundle of pictures that only displays the rocket ship as its icon. Perhaps even that the rocket ship picture is not even inside this "bundle", but is simply applied to all Outpost Kaloki X data files. Thanks.

I am just trying to figure out what stuff is safe to delete off the hard drive, amongst other things.

Although I have never paid for a gamerpic there have been a few free themeand gamerpic bundles which use a unique icon for the set rather than 10 seperate ones.

The OkX data should be tiny however. At about 1/1th of a gig or so I wouldn't bother deleting anything that size unless you have a larger collection of gamerpics (say 50MB+ total).

As far as I understand it, you can safely delete any of that stuff and get it back later, if you really need it, subject to the caveats below:

For example, if you're done playing OKX for a while, you can definitely delete the game itself, and that would save you 24MB. If you ever wanted the game again, you can re-download it for free, as long as you're signed in as the person who originally bought the game.

This also applies to downloaded content like the Love Story or gamer pictures.

As dezombie points out, 24MB is not big savings on your hard drive - you'd get a lot more space by deleting some 100+ MB video that shipped with your system, for instance.

I have bought 2 packs over XBL (Cloning Clyde and College Hoops for UK gamerpic) and I haven't checked for the icons. I will check later and see if there are multiple ones or just a single grouping.

EDIT: Every one is set up in groups of pics.

Yes, it would be simply cleaning up the mental clutter, rather than actually gaining space for another game demo, in this case.

I should have checked the gamerpic pack that I bought, doh!
