PC Band of Bugs Crash

Postby coreyh2 » Sat Jun 28, 2008 9:34 am

In Mission 10 during a enemy turn the game is crashing with this message.

Error:Access violation at 0x004D0782(tried to read from 0x00000011), program terminated.

I tried changing from windowed mode to fullscreen and changing to affinity so the game runs on one core. It still crashes a few enemy turns into the mission.

I don't think it'll fix anything, but you could try updating your video card drivers.

I have trouble with the newer ones and Mass Effect. 169.21 works with all the other games I use.

I could downgrade to 158.22. It worked a little better for NWN which is the only other game I run that uses opengl. There was some kind of change with how the nvidia drivers handle opengl. It could be related although it seems strange that it only started crashing during mission 10.

You probably have completely different hardware and didn't have any trouble playing through the whole game? So its likely a hardware/driver issue?

Does this crash only happen after loading a saved game on that level or always? I had a saved game that always crashed (on an earlier level) but restarting the level fixed it.

There might be more detailed information about the error in the log.txt but if you post it remove your name and the serial number.

Starting from the menu instead of the save fixed it. So it is a corrupted save. Thanks for the help. :)

I got a email from Steve Taylor that should have clued me into trying that but I assumed it was hardware related so I didn't.
