But yeah anyone noticed the spambots rising again?
Don't see why they bother since the forum is a little slow atm.

It is due to that this site does not have a Human Verification Manager when signing up. Now if they put one up that is even free it would control the spam bots to an extent and the only thing left would be to clean up all the odds and ends. As a mod/forum manager myself I know it is possible and this is something that is not being done here for some strange reason.

They do have that but it's outdated and needs to be updated

I would suggest an upgrade then as they need it.

We have the CAPTCHA that came with the system (phpBB 3.0.3). Where do you suggest I find an update to it? A quick look online shows some 3rd party hacks that I could try, but for simplicity of upgrading I'd rather keep close to standard. (I know, that means it's more likely bots get in...)

Anyway, do you have specific recommendations?

Don't know how easy reCAPTCHA is to integrate but it's definitely worth a look.

Whats more is their a smarter bot. The bot is posting more then once, with different threads titles and indexes too. There was a great anti bot registration I found, that adds a whole bunch of complex text, but only asks for one thing. Such as, add this, divide that, and subtract this. Then what color is the text?

Edit: It seems like Roanknaxy is the main offender in muti post spam boting.

These spam bots are annoying. We need either better mechanisms for preventing them, or the ability to ban them (particularly the ones that constantly spam the forum all day and don't stop).

Why not update the boards to VBulliten or update them in general to get a captcha. I haven't used phpBB, but I know alot about VBulliten which I think would work better over all for Ninja Bee IMO.

The latest update to phpBB has a overhauled CAPTCHA model i believe.

I got tired of scrolling through 3 pages of spam to see a normal topic :(

Who does one ask for mod permissions ... If they aint going to do it can I have them please. I know how to mod as I do it for three other developers ...

I'm sure theres a few members of the forum/peasaents who would happilly take care of this, my self included.

EDIT: On a voluntary basis and as fans of the games of course.
