Hey all,

How about a sticky thread where we collect references to various articles about clyde?

“Crazy”, you say? Yeah, crazy enough to totally work! Behold the url-like thingies below! Feel free to post your own here. Some of these are shamelessly stolen from posts by other people who were not me.

Official Sites:

Xbox.com
NinjaBee.com

Shameless Promotional Quotes:

“For those who like their games served goofy, Cloning Clyde's the special of the day. Thoroughly unserious and full of laughs, this tasty 3D sidescroller offers some entertaining twists on the typical platform game.”
-- Corey Cohen of Official Xbox Magazine
September '06, pg. 81

“There's a lot to like about Cloning Clyde. It offers a good deal of content for a reasonable price, and it looks and sounds nice, too. If you're looking for some inexpensive, lighthearted Xbox 360 action, Cloning Clyde is precisely what you're looking for.”
-- Jeff Gerstmann of GameSpot
Link

“Oh, also, I've got to throw some props to 'Cloning Clyde.' It's like...Lemmings...with a possession dynamic. And morphing. And, of course, co-operative play!”
-- Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games, Lead Designer: Gears of War
Link (Blog post on 7/30/2006)

“Seriously. No matter how jaded you believe yourself to be, the sight of a half-Clyde, half-sheep creature is positively guaranteed to leave you smirking. And while much of the game's humor is in the outstanding animation and sound effects, there's a good amount of it to be found in its clever level design too. Cloning Clyde positively bounces with enthusiastically violent, cartoony wit.”
-- Mike Smith of Yahoo! Video Games
Link

“Buy this game! It’s got the right mix of polish, fun, value, and broad appeal to make it an all around winner.”
-- Rob Madison of Gamezilla
Link

“'Cloning Clyde' seems to be Xbox Live Arcade’s most innovative game since Geometry Wars.”
-- Mike (aka Thrills Killa) of K1lla's Xbox Domain
Link

“Buy this game. Now. I’m totally serious. If you only had 800 points to spend, do it on this game. It knocks Mutant Storm off my #1 Arcade spot, and does it well. You won’t be sorry.”
-- Doug of Xboxic
Link

“But lo, the gods have smiled upon us: Cloning Clyde is, without a doubt, one of the greatest original works to come out of the XBLA thus far.”
-- Frank of Deeko
Link

“Cloning Clyde, in my humble opinion is the very best Live Arcade title to be released so far. Its simple but intuitive gameplay with have a gamer of any age hooked for quite sometime, and it was re-written the book on how to make your game original and innovative. Ninjabee impressed me with Outpost Kaloki X, but blew me away with the sheer fun of Cloning Clyde. For 800 Microsoft Points, this game is a steal.”
-- Luke Steel of Xbox Evolved
Link

"Ninja Bee has crafted an entertaining and clueless hero character inside a game perfectly suited to his personality."

GamersReports (8.0/10)
“It offers about 10-15 hours of gameplay (if you’re trying to get everything) and at $10 it’s about the same price as seeing Johnny Depp run around on a boat for two hours. Recommended.”

Games Radar (8/10)
“An incomparably innovative combination of hilarity and diabolical puzzles, Cloning Clyde is also a total bargain at 800 Microsoft points.”

EuroGamer (8/10)
“Even at 800 Microsoft points (so, six-quid-eighty), it offers a lot of value compared to some of its fellow test-subjects, and while it does occasionally frustrate or bore, the urge to keep going remains.”

Deeko (8/10) (thanks, fofmodie)
“With a wonderful personality, gorgeously styled graphics, some great humorous moments and a variety of puzzle and platforming challenges, the game is a perfect way to spend some time for your surely-limited dime.”

“Overall, this is my favorite Arcade game for the simple fact it is original. The humor, graphics, puzzles and challenge level all feel great.”

Here's another video of the first level, but this one is from E3 2006 and it shows off some tweaks that have been made since the first video (platform waits longer for you etc.)

Whaddaya doing posting stickies when you should be "flogging the horses" all day long to get this game out?

No, collected info is totally great. And if the flogging effect starts to fade, maybe you should have everyone's wives/husbands/significant others stand outside the locked front door and tell them that if they "want to see their loved ones again, they'll get the damn game finished". Oh wait, I guess that's just called "crunch".

Okay...all joking aside, I hope the moral is up and the development is going well. I'm sure the game is gonna be awesome! I look forward to flooding these boards with posts that actually have to do with the all the Clyde goodness (and not with where to find HOT HOT GIRLZ).

Just thought you guys should know (if you didn't already) that Cloning Clyde (and Wahoo) was talked about (very kindly, in fact) on Major Nelson's latest Blogcast. It's more than an hour into the 1:50 show, so fast forward if you want. (^_^)

If you're really lazy and want to know the exact minute, let me know and I'll track it down for you guys!

Awesome, thanks!

When Ross Erickson was on Major Nelson a few months ago, he mentioned Kaloki, which was awesome. Was it a particular guest mentioning Clyde this time? Eh, I guess I can look for myself...

Oh! It looks like Ross again, at first glance. Cool! I'll definitely listen.

Edit: That was a pretty interesting one. Tons of time with Ross. And the mention of Clyde was short but very positive! Yay!

That's true... Ross has known us for a long time (actually, about 5 years, long before we were interested in XBLA), and he's used to calling us Wahoo. We used the name Wahoo Studios when we first started talking about Live Arcade because we wanted them to see that we were an established company with a history, and our "NinjaBee" face was brand new.

Since then, they've been pretty good about using the name "NinjaBee" in PR statements and things, but sometimes Wahoo gets used instead.

What will be even more fun will be that the small team that did much of the production work on Clyde has its own name - J. Kenworthy Games. When the game boots up, it shows a NinjaBee logo and a J. Kenworthy Games logo.

Cloneing clyde on Game Informer's Live Arcade Spotlight #158
If you can't read what it says:
Quote:
We love multi-directional shooters, and gem-based puzzle games certainly
hold a fond place in our hearts, however, it certainly seems like variations
on those two themes are starting to overwhelm the still-growing
Xbox Live arcade line up. Enter cloning cyde, a full-on 3D side-scrolling
adventure in the classic style. Clyde, as it turns out, has been cloned by
insidious corporation appropriately called Dupliclone. Now, not only does
Clyde need to escape their clutches, but so do his numerous copies,
several of which have have adopted some ever-popular Chicken-Clyde,
among others. Each clone has his own special abilities to maneuver past
traps and defeat enemies. On the gameplay side, we're most excited
about the multiplayer possibilities. There's two-player co-op on one
machine, as well as a four-player arena combat option over Xbox live.
A quirky art style and a humorous concept are enough to pique our
interest and if nothing else, it's looking to stand apart from the rest of
the XBLA options.

I hope your happy I had to re-wright all of that :(.
