At 20 mins+ per run through of the eight-port, it rarely gets more than three play throughs before being given up for the week lol. The scenarios are quite a bit of fun, to me, though requiring a bit more of a time investment. Playing with guns is quite the pleasant diversion.
Regarding ch14, when I envision my end station, I'm always trying new configurations for the final run to $50k. So far, I can remember tryng:
One Three-Space parking building of each type
Two Three-Space parking buildings of each type
Three Three-Space parking buildings of each type
One Three-Space parking building + One Four-Space parking building
One Four-Space parking building
Two Four-Space parking buildings
One Four-space parking building + One Level Five-space parking building
One Five-Space parking building
Two Five-Space parking buildings
One Ultimate building of each type
All buildings used are the cheapest of their parking space class.
I imagine I have tried a couple others combinations in the past, as well. The considerations are how to choose a building configuration that makes the most money and meets the target time. Those seemed like the most logical considerations trying out a varying number of parking spaces from 3-10.
None of the runs ever gave the impression that a minor change was going to be of any use; it would have to be a major change in the final configuration. I got the impression that you do not use the same appeal setting all the way through a level, necessarily. However, it's hard to believe that alone could attribute in making up two full minutes in time.
The eight-port challenge has a neat feature of being easier if you build to $20k, sell your five-buildings for $5k, then build the final five buildings. It registers your successful achievement of $25k and doesn't re-check it. But I don't see that applying significantly in ch14.
The various bold approaches I can think of involve maxing and minimizing variables, but both of those failed. I suppose the true maximum might be three ultimate stations of each type, but that seems impractical lol. The minimalist approach failed. I tried consolidating power, which I normally ignore, but with minimal effect.
Oh, OKX how do I end up spending so much of my time playing you? =) i have not yet had an OKX dream, either. That used to happen to me when I played chess, however. I had to give it up lol.

Ok, i'll spill my secrets i need you to challenge me on this one, my chapter 14 configuration for the end is:
the Dance Club, Jewel Exchange, Radar, Nanotech (not sure if these are the cheapest or not of the five ports) and Lake (think its lake costs 1700 and four port as you need 4.5 star rating for the 5 port and i've rarely got that which is why i just ended up using that). Thats it, i don't use any other ports i just sell all the others off when these are done.
From memory i usually have them built and 10K in hand at about 20 min, probably closer to 19 min though.
Once i tried the above i tried using all the ultimate ones and seriously failed because the price the visitors pay is really close to the ones i use so it wasn't worth the extra time and cost.
I always max out appeal and price on the trade ones, its just easiest to do that as its just one click to max out the bar. From my brief testing on basic levels, maxing and using the 80% averaged out to be basically the same although this was in a short time frame and i need to do some more extensive testing at some point as adjusting for the traffic just throws it all out the water without a huge collection of like 50 test runs per variable and i'm not quite that crazy to find out if 80% or max makes enough difference when finding the right traffic seems to be key.
Maybe thats not as bold as i made out but it was for me as i don't usually build anything not required by the mission, as soon as i meet the visitor demand with low levels ports i tend to just continue with them. having said that i don't have much practise on the larger scenarios to know just how quick the larger ports make their profits.
