The new Kameo Co-Op update includes new achievements. They have no point value, so as not to exceed the "1000 points per game" rule. Any thought of new "0 point" Achievements? For, say, the Love Story or CoTG? Buying a scenario and getting an Achievement would be an interesting enticement -- might sell some extra downloads.

I like the idea of zero-point achievements, and I'm sure, if more than 12 achievements were allowed in XBLA games, that zero-point achievements would be the way to do it. But the answer so far is still "12 achievements only." As always, I'm not an expert on the policy, and it might change, but I think we'd be more likely to use it in future OKX levels, not in the ones already released.

That *is* a great idea. Nothing better than the "bloop" sound of an achievement being unlocked!
Kameo can get away with it though since the game still (after the new added achievements) only has 35 achievements and retail titles can have up to 50. Of course, PGR3 actually added gamerscore with their "Tournament Qualifier" achievement that they added with their auto-update. And they probably plan to add more too since they are still under the 1000 mark (currently at 950).
It is interesting that some dev teams seem to have planned to add achievements and gamerscore at a later date with an auto-update. I see definite pros and cons to that scenario. However, that would already be *really* hard to do with Arcade titles since they are so limited in the achievements area (12/200) in the first place.
It's too bad really because I have a six retail games and five arcade games (including Hexic) and I find the Arcade's gameplay experiences to be just as good (if not better) than the retail games. And as a result, I feel the same accomplishment from getting an arcade achievement that I feel when getting a retail achievement. Too bad the amount of gamerscore doesn't coincide with the potency of the feeling.
I mean getting War Story Gold in OKX and Surviving 1,000,000 in Geo Wars are 2 of my most prized achievements.
Ultimately I understand the cost ratio decision regarding how much gamerscore can be doled out by Arcade titles. But I wonder why they limited them to 12 achievements? Since the gamerscore ratio is 1:5 why did they decide to allow 12 achievements instead of 10? Why not more? 15...or 20? I mean the # of achievements doesn't hurt them does it? <sigh> Oh well...

I had forgotten the lock on total achievements per game. Thats just silly. Achievements have become a real reason to replay my games. Especially the Achievements beyond "Finished Training" or "Turned Game On". I can tell alot about a player by their achievements -- Its gotten so I don't even notice their score anymore.
I wish M$ would reconsider that.

"Turned Game On"...
And I agree about looking at achievements more than gamerscore. I'm closing in on 10,000 GS but I'm more proud that I did all that without a bunch of sports games. (I did get 550 from NHL2K6, and Amped 3 is a "sports" title but its much harder to complete than most sports games.) I think it's way cooler to have OKX (as much as possible), Wik, Geo Wars, Hexic, and Marble Blast all completed! Rah Rah for the Arcade.

It certainly does seem as if the XBLA achievements are, for the most part, tougher than the "mainstream" Achievements (I'm struggling with the last two for Feeding Frenzy -- eat 40,000 fish!?! Jeez!), but even the Mainstream games have the special achievements.
Almost everybody I meet has a higher Perfect Dark Zero Gamerscore -- because they play the multiplayer, and thats where most of the points are. But nobody has the "Perfect Dark Difficulty" Achievement unlocked -- hell, nobody's got the one under that unlocked either. When/if I get that, I'll be prouder than having the "1,000,000 bots shot" Achievement.

You mean beating dark agent? I beat that.
Also I also agree with arcade game's being harder the retail most of the time.

How about FIXING their existing code first so one can get all their achievements.

If you're referring to Kaloki's glitched achievements, there is still hope. Stay has mentioned that Ninjabee is in talks with MS about that issue (finally) so we may eventually see a patch. <fingers crossed>

Well first of all, welcome to the forums.
Secondly, if you see any suspicious links or things on this site, be very cautious, because we have a big spambot infection.
